In the foreground of the artwork on the left hand side there is a front half of a light blue boat pointing upwards. Around this there is a dark and light blue cliff section. On the right hand side in between the cliffs there is a light yellow stone archway. Above this there is a stone wall which is in light and dark shades of yellow. In the middle ground there is a row of houses that stretch from 1 side to the other side of the artwork. These houses are light grey and yellow in colour. Above these houses there is a section of a large grand white building. Next to this there is a small single story white coloured house.
Further along and slightly higher up there is a small white coloured house.
In the background on the left-hand side there are sections of light blue cliffs.
Climbing up the cliffs are dark and light green plants.

Another Hastings 1

In the foreground of the artwork there are cliffs, which have different patches of light and dark shades of blue. In between the cliffs in the foreground there is a row of buildings that are creamy white in colour and 1 building that is light red in colour. Also 2 larger buildings on their own which are white in colour.
In the middle ground of the artwork there is a blue cliff along with patches of dark green plants. In the middle ground in between the cliff there is 2 rows of light grey or light yellow houses. In the background of the artwork there is a continuation of identical cliffs and plants. In between these cliffs there is a row of buildings, which are creamy white in colour with 1 of the buildings being pale red in colour. On the right hand side of the background there is a large bright white grand looking building. On top of the cliff there is a section of a single story white coloured house.

Another Hastings 2

In the foreground there is a yellow light-coloured sandy beach. Above this there is a concrete wall that is dark yellow in colour. Behind this there are sections of white coloured buildings. There are also 2 sections of a creamy coloured building. On the left-hand side of the middle ground of the artwork, there is a group of sections of houses that are pale blue and creamy white in colour. Next to these on the left hand side there is a dark green prickly bush.
The right hand side of the middle ground and most of the background a there is a jumbled up sections of a light grey building. On the left hand side of the background there is a group of light blue sections of cliff. Next to the cliffs there is 2 sections a large grand looking creamy white building. And also a row of creamy white and light grey buildings, between these buildings there is a light red coloured building.

My artwork Another Hastings 1 won first prize in 2014-15 Tight Modern Public Vote

In the 9 panel artwork from which these are taken I explored a Hastings and find out how I could mess around with Hastings while still retaining the essence of the place.

Also in the artwork I wanted to explore the different colours and textures of Hastings cliffs and to play around with the shape of a well-known building in Hastings.
