Romney Marsh is a special and unique place, entirely different from the surrounding local landscape.

I wanted to show different parts of the Romney Marsh and how they can interact with each other.

I did this by focusing on the different shades and tones of Romney Marsh and then separating the picture into different sections.

As a place, Romney Marsh can be seen as bleak.  However, I find the landscape vibrant; bursting with different and contrasting colours and textures. The marsh is full of plants and crops, and because of how flat the Romney Marsh is the sky is also an important and visually powerful part of the landscape.

However, it is the large built structures of the marsh – the power station, pylons, wind turbines and lighthouse - that tend to dominate, perhaps even overpower, the surrounding natural landscape.
